And I was thinking about how we as humans/imperfect beings, Lie. Yes, lie, it seems to me that we as christians struggle with one of the more annoying little sins, we lie and we call it a social grace. Some gets a haircut thats genuinely bad and then asks us how it looks. and we decide since we don't want to hurt their feelings we say; "hey it looks great." and so we without evening thinking about it lie. now maybe I'm odd in thinking about it, but isn't lying, no matter what the circumstance; wrong? Proverbs 12:33 says in the first part of the verse; "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord." it doesn't say "lying lips when they are lying about certain things, it just says lying lips. Something to think about.

Reminiscing over the Good Old Days…
I’ve been a gamer for about 10 years, and this past week I was reflecting on that time of gaming. I’ve owned the majority of consoles that have been in the market for the past 10 years. In fact I’ve owned almost every console in the past ten years. Excluding the PS3, and PspGo and a few others. I’ve owned a N64, a Gameboy Pocket, A Gameboy Advance, a Gameboy Advance SP, and Gameboy Advance Micro, a Nintendo Ds, a Gamecube, a Playstation 2, a Xbox 360, a Ipod Touch, (Which actually is becoming basically a handheld console) a Nintendo Wii. I remember when each of the console was coming out, the fanfare the Nintendo Gamecube got, the press the PS2 got, all the articles on the Xbox 360. I remember even the little articles I read on the Gameboy Advance SP and the Nintendo DS. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsft all had a stake in my gaming career. And I really enjoy gaming, its a fun pastime. I’ve owned probably a couple hundred games at least. Not including the pc games I got for Christmas and birthday presents.
I remember the thrill of playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the very first time. And the horror and fear at the final bosss. I remember play Metroid Fusion for the gameboy and being so drawn into the story that was woven into the gameplay. I remember beating Metroid Prime 1 the first time 2-3 weeks after my 16th birthday.
I’ve enjoyed games that have been put out by Nintendo, as well as other companies. And They have all been enjoyable (Except Glover for the N64, that was one of the dumbest games they ever made for the N64) first person shooters, RPG’s, Action/Adventure games, even puzzle games. I’ve gotten my taste of pretty much every game genre out there.
And to be honest, I haven’t been impressed with some of the systems. More specifically, the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Now don’t get me wrong. I had my 360 for the better part of two years and enjoyed my gaming on it. And my experiences with the PS3 haven’t been terrible. But they lacked a certain something.
About 2 weeks ago I traded my Xbox 360 in for a Nintendo Wii…
And I will never regret that trade in. I will miss some of the games. But not long after plugging the Wii into the TV and firing up Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Paper Mario. I remembered what I missed from the Xbox 360…
Nostalgia… Yes, that’s what I said, nostalgia. I felt like a little kid playing NES at my friends house again. The Wii had this fun quality that I didn’t get from other consoles. I later connected the Wii up to the internet and downloaded a few old school games off of the Wii Shop Channel, Specifically, Super Metroid for the SNES, Super Smash Brothers for the N64, and F-Zero X for N64. I started playing F-Zero X and I remembered playing it in high school with two of my buddies and the hours of fun we use to have while playing it. I remembered playing Super Smash Brothers with my Pastors sons and using Pikachu and Kirby to clean house.
Needless to say it was a nice trip down memory lane.
I remember when the Wii came out I said something about wanting one. And one of the guys in my dorm started ranting on how underpowered the Wii was and how much better the Xbox 360 was. The level of detail in basketball games (Yes like I really wanted to see drop of sweat falling off of a guy playing basketball. That’s not my idea of quality gaming. And its funny because I’ve had chances to use a Xbox 360. (heck I owned one for two years) and play the PS3 a little. I was not impressed with the PS3. Honestly its like both of the systems are yes incredibly high powered when it comes to graphics. But how many games are there for those systems that you can sit down to play and enjoy a rich quality that comes from a company making games for over 20 years now. I also see that the Wii appeals to a huge audience. My fiancĂ© who has never been a gamer before has started playing on the Wii and is enjoying it. You never saw her even think of picking up a Xbox controller.
But those are just some thoughts I had while playing a N64 game.
