End of the PC?

So is the end of your pc coming? I would definitely say yes. Steve Jobs said when he unveiled the iPad 2 "These are post-PC devices that need to be even easier to use than the PC, and even more intuitive." Apple started what is going to spell the ending of the pc.Some people may seen a little incredulous at the idea of no long using a regular pc, or they may be like my dad when I shared my thoughts on it with him "Good, I don't really use ours anyway." But in reality its coming. How many people have a smartphone of some sort or their own tablet pc they use on a regular basis, even in church I see people using smartphones or tablets to take notes during the sermon. I would definitely say we will get to a point where having a desktop or a laptop will not be something you see in every persons house even with the upcoming release of iOS 5 you won't need to connect your iPad, iPhone or iPod to a computer to set it up, you can simply pull it out of the box and then set it up and get along fine without ever having to plug it into a computer. Now yes I think some people will still use their laptops or desktops but the market for them is going to decrease. Even now when you go into a electronics store. the section thats the most flashy and catches your eye is where they have the tablets. the computers are somewhere nearby but not as eye catching. When Steve Jobs unveiled the first version of its iPad they created a new market for Tablet computers. one that is still currently dominated by Apple. Nowadays the tablet market is going hard and strong with new tablets being announced and released one right after another with many big name companies putting out their own versions to take the market by storm. unfortunately some of those tablets don't go so well(like the HP Touchpad). The touchpad was pulled off the shelves after less than two months on the market. the blackberry playbook may be following in their steps as RIM (Research in Motion) has only shipped 200k of their playbooks. While Apple has shipped around 9.25m of their iPads. Needless to say the market is a tough one and so far Apple has really been dominating the market. Although with the recent keynote from Microsoft the possibility of finally having a good windows based tablet are looking great, here's a link to the rundown on Windows 8. It looks like the rise of the Tablets and decline of the PC's is definitely in our future.
